in the mountains not much above our elevation; just rain here but the clouds are low and looking like they want to give us something more.

the Big Ass parade is going on downtown but I decided to give it a miss (you knew yesterday was Nevada Day, right?)

I did a walmart run and now drinking coffee with Wait Wait on the radio: what a good day to do some unpacking, some cleaning, some laundry, and reading Clash of Kings.

what's going on where you are?

Happy Saturday and Happy November!

We had snow on the peaks of our mtns too this morning. And VERY windy. (One of the mtns is only about 5 miles north of us). This morning was the memorial service for my daddy and then all the family went to lunch and to get reconnected.

This is a shot of White Oak Mtn (also known as Tryon Peak, about 3200 ft above sea level and about 5 miles north of the parking lot I was in to get the shot:

Granted it was JUST a dusting. But this is probably the earliest snow in my lifetime.

We had snow overnight. It's mostly melted now, as it does at this time of year. I think it's the 3rd or 4th time since the beginning of Oct. It will start sticking in the next week or so.

Some of my earliest memories are of having a parka over my Halloween costume as there was an early snowfall :)

But then again, I'm above the 49th parallell ;D

Well, this week, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday it was in the 80s and I had the ac on. Today, it started out at 35 with frost warnings and snow in lots of surrounding areas. Crazyville for South Carolina!

We had snow and hail during the peak of trick or treating early yesterday evening. I drove alongside Charles and the kids to provide a mobile warming station as I'm a bit weak these days and can't take the chill.

Fortunately the snow didn't stick and today was sunny and a bit warmer. It's 40 now.

snow and hail! when I was growing up in Duluth, Minnesota we always had our winter coats on over our costumes for the holiday, used to make me mad but it was usually stormy and always cold.

it's crisp and clear/sunny here now, I guess the front is past.

might be an interesting winter, Liz.

I love winters here! Just cold enough to make soups and stews and not cold enough to shovel anything!

I have been busy draining the pool. Doing stuff in the yeard before the inevitable freeze comes.

Had to drive to Knoxville today for my pre-op appt. I stopped at the Rest Area at mile marker 10 I40 heading west but I was STILL in NC (Haywood County). It was about 10:30 AM and 36 degrees. The snow fell Friday night...this was 48 hours PLUS later.
