Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
:266::thanksgivingdinner:
Remember to keep your dining table small this year. Your own pod!
I’m fixing ham (neither of us like turkey), green bean casserole, and hasselback potatoes. Along with homemade cranberry sauce and crescent rolls. My BFF who lives in this area is swing by on her way to deliver to her in-laws and a daughter/husband with some dressing and dessert. Under normal times, we would spend the day with her as well as have a community potluck here at the campground but these ain’t normal times.

We will be eating leftovers forever. The ham is one of the small Costco ones.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Happy cheat day for me!

Started out my day with toasted buttered bagels! From a real bakery, not the grocery store! All the cooking is done except for the mashed potatoes which I will start shortly. We are having turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin custard with whipped cream. I also have to find the time to eat a brownie and 1/.2 of a black and white cookie.

The dogs will be sharing dinner with us!

$0.49 per pound, what about yours?

I look forward to your eating reports on holidays. :)

today I had decided to eat just exactly what I wanted to and planned on Burger King!

but, after having coffee shop coffee with half & half and a pumpkin chocolate scone for breakfast, I just wasn't wanting it so I had (seriously) some meatballs, saltines, wine, a yam with butter and salt. I'm going to have a second 4 oz of wine pretty soon here and then later tonight, oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! :)

I worked most of the day, but took a few hours with my Mom for a Thanksgiving picnic. She was in one bubble tent with an electric heater, Charles, the kids and I were in another bubble tent. Food was catered in individual meal portions we just had to reheat, so we wouldn't touch her food. She brought her own silverware.

I've been working 10-12 hour days 7 days a week for a couple of months now, so those free hours were a well-deserved break, if I say so myself and I do!

Dad is in isolation as COVID spread to his floor of Memory Care and he has had a mild fever. His last test was negative. Latest report has his temperature now at 99.2 with a pulse of 67 and 97 oxygen. He ate all his dinner. We Skyped him from our bubble tents and he seemed in good spirits.

Another positive note, Liam sent in his college applications on Nov 15 and one school was clever enough to send out acceptance emails today (his second so far). Good marketing plan by the school - they intentionally made it the subject of Thanksgiving dinner table discussions. This one is Liam's top choice because it is closest to our house, his favorite restaurant, and next to the beach where he learned to sail (in a boat so slow it was named Bubbe).

Enjoy the leftovers!

That was pretty fast! Two already, wow! Liam is in demand. I’m very happy for you all. My granddaughter, Emma submitted hers to Rice University a few weeks ago and we’re hoping she gets in. Her older brother attends there so he talked her in to trying for there also. His financial aid package covers everything for him so we’re praying hard she gets a good offer also. With five parentless kiddos to educate, the scholarships and financial aid are extremely important. Just not enough in their parents estate to cover it all! Then another two years and the next ones up to bat!

Susan, My sister studied architecture at Rice - she was in Brown College there. Great school! Fingers crossed on the financial aid.

Extend my congratulations to Liam. That is wonderful news!
Thanks! :)

Yes, it’s a great school. Will is majoring in math and neuroscience and Emma (I think) wants to pursue nursing or nurse practitioner or something medical anyway. It’s far enough from home, Pflugerville (Austin area) to be exciting and give them “being on their own“ experience but close enough to allow trips home when wanted and on holidays without incurring large travel expenses. Will has been home several months now doing online classes but supposed to be back on campus after first of the year. He’ll be back in a dorm again. I think most classes will still be online because of size but he’s anxious to be there. He’s very Safety cautious and I know will be careful. He’s also hoping the vac will be rolled out also.
