Discomfort when eating

Definitely slow down. I was on liquids the first 3 or 4 weeks and didn't even have the slightest desire to try anything more at that point. Soft foods early on were probably eggs, grits etc. All these years later (12) I still get that "one bit too many" feeling on occasion. Usually my fault, eating fast and too much. Slow down and take breaks.

I'm curious about why things do change. It's true that at 4 weeks (now) I can suddenly burp,
what a wonderful change! So what happens that lets us burp at 4 weeks, or why do certain
foods not work at first but do later. What changes are going on inside that makes that difference?

Any guesses?

Your insides are swollen and sore from being cut open. It takes a lot of time for your body to heal and recover. This is why you are to eat start with just liquids, then soft, and progress as you begin to heal.
