Greetings.

I am taking 30 tablets of 5mg (elemental) copper bisglycinate chelate in the morning on an empty stomach with a couple quarts of water, four hours before taking any other supplements. Six months ago my copper level was .65, three months ago it was .67 and last Friday it was .62. It's been in this range since Dec. 2020. Normal range is .80 to 1.75.
I'd like to get my copper into the normal range but increasing my intake by 50% three months ago did nothing, in fact it dropped.
My DS was done in 2010 by Dr. Daniel B. Leslie, MD. My copper has bounced in and out of the normal range but averaged above the low limit until last December. My zinc is low normal.
I can get a copper infusion if necessary, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a different form to take. I tried the gluconate powder from Bulk Supplements but it didn't help, and it made me nauseous (taking ginger powder with it mitigated this slightly.)
Has anyone else here struggled to get their copper levels up?
All my other vitamins and minerals are within normal ranges.

Hello.

Were you told to take it on an empty stomach?
Nope. I was taking it with food and my levels were dropping, so I tried switching to taking it on an empty stomach in case that increased absorption. It didn't.

I had a feeling it wouldn’t help as food generally helps with the absorption as you know.
Sorry to hear what you’re going through.

Thank you. I'm going to take smaller amounts throughout the day, to see if that helps.
Is there any forum where people who've had DS are more active? It doesn't seem likely I'm the only one this ever happened to, but it seems like a lot of us left the message boards.

Most everyone migrated to FB. The problem there is searching for issues and the pace at which things are posted.

I have been on here less but also really don't go on Facebook much any more. If I get on Facebook I check notifications and I really am not compatible politically with a lot of the folks I grew up with or work with now.
