Mr. Sue is in an online class. First assignment was to write your own introduction to the prof and classmates. What do you think of this as your first intro to this student? Maybe I'm off base here, and I have questions, so I am interested in what you think.

My name is ____ and I am a Senior Manager at a Public Accounting firm here in _____ . I have been in the accounting field for over 12 years now with a short stint as a Controller. My particular area of expertise is in forensic accounting inclusive of fraud investigations and litigation-related engagements. I currently have my CPA and a number of other professional certifications in addition to an MBA (management major), an MS (accounting major), an MA (criminal justice major), and a number of undergraduate degrees.
I am taking this particular course because I am an avid lifelong learner and see the interconnectedness of all disciplines no matter what one’s career focus may be. My interest in ____ is similar to my interest in other disciplines as there is value in absorbing all that we can. Also, I have taken a number of ____ courses previously and have enjoyed the topics. The ones I have taken already include [he lists four classes.]. I do not, however, have any real-life experience with ___ as all of my experiences in the field have stemmed only from academia.
I grew up in an [military] family so we moved around a lot leaving my family scattered throughout the continental US. I moved to ____. almost eight years ago from _____. I got married not too long ago (it doesn’t feel that long ago at least) and we are about to celebrate our third anniversary in a couple of weeks…I’m still getting acquainted with my new life as a married man. I look forward to my immediate family growing over the next few years. :)
Outside of school and work, my free time is primarily used for watching movies (nothing recently), doing distance events (e.g. marathons & triathlons), and, now, going out with my lovely wife. I love participating in long-distance events including swimming, biking & kayaking...but my heart is in running. In fact, I have over 20 marathons under my belt (coupled with a slew of other distance events) and have partaken in some ultras (i.e. loosely classified as any distance over 26.2 miles) as well.

On line courses discussions, intros, typically longer than 6 sentences are too long. I would include where you are today, why taking this course and what you plan on getting out of it, and one personal interest only.

That's wayyyy too much info for an online class intro. I've had to do this many times, and read about 40 per class, so I have a little experience, and short and sweet about where you are in life and where you hope the class will help you to go is all you need.

To me, it was not only too long, but this dude seemed very full of himself. And...made me wonder why he never earned a doctorate in anything. Maybe he's just a failure.

Here's my interpretation:

Hello Slightly Inferior Peers,

I'm an awesome and uber-exciting accountant who after three years of marriage still feels like I'm a newlywed. Admire my genius ladies, but I'd like to mention my wife a few more times so you know I'm married. So, even if you're interested in a cool runner who is totally fit and desirable, know, I have a wife. Too bad for you, I'm taken because of that whole wife business. And I'm not going to go for a second wife because I've learned that it takes more than three years to adjust to not being single.

Oh, and I figured that I won't have to pay off those student loans if I stay in school forever so I've pretty much taken every course possible. That said, even though my introduction seems as lengthy as a dissertation, I have no interest in writing one, so I've mainly focused on masters degrees thus far. I specialize in B.S. of more than the academic kind, if you know what I mean.

Signed,
Chip Onmyshoulder, BS, BA, MBA, BS, BS, PMP, CNA, FLMI, FSA, TNT, MS

That just made my day!!! :ROFLMAO::thumbsup:

And we've come full circle around to Rob's junk again, haha. He must still be feeling okay. ;)

Yeah I've lost 36 lbs so far (including 16 pre-op) and I actually believe I've lost enough weight to have maybe seen a quick sighting of the lil guy the other day, kind of like the groundhog seeing his shadow, it was very quick, but....encouraging.....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
