I am sorry I am not here often as I spend a lot of time on the FB group and Dr K's group on FB.
On Sunday evening Cameron's girlfriend rushed him to the ER as he had a lot of pain and as Cassie said, he got very pale very fast. He passed out in triage so they got him in quickly. They gave him contrast for CT and he heaved several times but got about half down. Did the Cat and it showed a large anoint of air in the abdominal cavity so around midnight he had emergency exploratory surgery. It was about 3 hours. He ended having a hole in his stomach. We are not certain why it happened and I need to talk to the surgeon more. He is NPO and had a zipper from his belly button to his sternum which now means he has sternum to groin zipper. The plan right now is to release him on Friday.
He was doing so well attending UIS full-time with a full-time internship at Caterpillar. This is finals week so hopefully his professors aren't dicks and give some slack and time to make things up.
Please keep him in your thoughts. I think this is surgery 21 at 23 years old.
BTW, this is what you get when you have emergency exploratory surgery when you have a lot of free air show up on a CT. Hopefully it heals as well as the one below. I am fearful that he is going to end up with a full abdominal mesh at some point as I imagine he is going to be a hernia and adhesion/scar tissue machine.
