I know lots of us don't care but there are some who do. If you want to protect your identity, it's a good idea NOT to use a real picture, especially not a closeup of your face.

Social media sites like Facebook have ever improving face recognition abilities. Intuitive programs that attach your name to your photo. Someone could take your photo from a site and put it on FB to see if your real name/profile come up. And FB has been doing what it can to force people to use their real names, not avies. FB usually recognizes me easily and tags me automatically.

Just so you know!

This is one of the reasons that I decided to be fairly open about my surgery. I didn't want to lie or worry about hiding it.

Yep I am open book and don't care, but I understand that some do and I certainly honor their anonymity.

I'm very open, yet, after transplanting, no one here knew me as fat, so they don't ask and I generally don't bring it up for no reason. Plus, I talk about personal info on here, which is why I don't use my picture for my avatar, or my full name. You have me thinking I should delete the pictures from my surgiversary post.

I would hate for you to delete your photos! I love seeing your beautiful face!

I feel like it's good for pre-ops to see those kinds of posts, especially when there are always the ones from people who are dealing. With complications that can scare people away. I'm torn!
