I need some help figuring out if a few vegetables are considered low carb or not. After 15 years of being off and on a low carb plan of some sort, im still confused about a few foods bc info on them is ambiguous. Hope my smart folks on here can help. Thanks in advance!

*okra
*eggplant
*red/vidalia onions
*turnip roots
*rutabegas

Okra 7 grams per cup
Eggplant 4.8 grams per cup (cubed)
Onions 11 grams per cup (sliced) of which 9 are sugar
Turnips (not the greens) 8 grams per cup
Rutabaga 12 grams per cup (cubed)

All these are assuming raw state.

Except for eggplant, I could happily live without eating those veggies. And eggplant is usually coated in nice greasy stuff when consumed, limiting intake. But I would consider all of them as being more fiber than carbs anyway. So long as you're eating enough protein, I personally wouldn't worry about them. Except for their fartigenic properties.

New term I love "fartigenic properties" !!!!!

Thank you ma'am. Im still on the fence about turnip roots and rutabegas bc they are root plants. I always thought root plants were to be avoided bc they were carby. However newer information on low catb suggests eating them bc they arent starchy tubers like potatoes. I think im going to stay away for now until i shed some more pounds. But I love steamed okra..love it!!

I do eat potatoes but mine are either roasted with olive oil and Parmesan cheese or baked loaded (very loaded).
My favorite tho is sweet potatoes with lots of butter.
