Hello Wonderful People.

I am in need of some advice. I have talked to my Doctors and they dont seem to know what to do and keep giving advice as if I have had Bypass not DS.

I am about 2 years out and started to gain weight back again by of course eating my face off with junk food. So I got that back in Check and started eating my protiens and Veggies.

I eat about 70grams of Protien a day
Veggies and lots of them and pretty much all kinds in unlimted amounts
I drink over 64 OZ water a day with lemons
I eat about 50grams of fat a day or else my Bum will hurt
If I was to put this in to Cals I still eat a fair amount but with the malabsoption that I am sure is still occuring, even at a slower rate the cals still seem to be up there. ( I know not to Count Cals my Fitness Pal just always tells me)

And the 20 LBS I gained has not moved at all.

The Docs say that I should offcourse reduce Cal intake and reduce pretty much everything.
What are your thoughts ?? Any advice would be great.

I have been looking at old posts and reviewing what has been said in the past, But some new updates would be great.

Thanks in Advance for your time and response.

Okay,
1) Get your protein up to 90-150 grams depending on how your labs look. 70 grams is simply NOT enough.
2) Instead of veggies, eat protein
3) Up your fat intake to 100 - 150 grams (do this slowly) http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/fats-are-not-the-enemy.3185/

You need to be eating 100-150 grams of protein, 100-150 grams of fat, about 30 grams of carbs (ANY CARBS not just starches but veggies, dairy, etc...any carb.)

IGNORE the calorie counts.

ANY food that is not from an animal or made of fat is a carb...and the body does NOT care what kind of carb it is...a carb is sugar to the body. Green veggies like broccoli have the fewest carbs but it is STILL a carb. You do not NEED veggies or fruits or starches but you do require protein and fat.

The reason you ignore the calories is that if you are eating enough fat, at 9 calories a gram, you can easily eat 1200 grams of calories in FAT ALONE.

Go back and reread this post as well: http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/ds-math.735/

Back to basics of protein first and fat, and as few carbs as you can OF ANY KIND, and you will be in better shape.

Thank you for the Help and the link to the DS Math.

To be clear, WHAT veggie are you eating in unlimited amounts? Potatoes, corn, rice? I doubt they are all leafy greens, or you would likely be crapping your guts out. Like Liz said, more protein, more fat.

Well I am eating potatos of all kinds and winter Squashs. I honestly thought that veggies of all or any kind were good. The Docs really stressed this to me when I went for help. Here at home its really hard to find anyone that truly knows how my DS works and Keep giving advice as if I had Bypass. Leafy greens really cause my gut to hurt. Not really eating rice or oats of any kind as they cause painful gut problems. Thanks for the Reply.

Potatoes will stall your weight. Winter squash, it depends on how you prepare them and what you add to them.

Nope, very few veggies are good for us.
Let's start with this...DS'ers and diabetics are similar in that neither should be eating carbs. Carbs raise blood sugar in diabetics. In DS'ers they either slow weight loss or cause weight gain and many cause gastric distress.
Start here with what is a carbohydrate: http://www.diabetes-book.com/carbohydrate/
Then look at this list: http://www.diabetes-book.com/no-no-foods/
Look at this list for what is left to eat (IN VERY LIMITED amounts): http://www.diabetes-book.com/whats-left-to-eat/

Dr K says protein, water then everything else. He states if you eat in that order and meet the goals for things 1 and 2 there is no room for any of the everything else

You need to learn how to determine the carb content of the foods you eat - potatoes and squash are HIGH CARB. No wonder you are having issues! Use the internet to learn the content of the foods you eat.

Small potato 29.2 carbs

http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ca...ed-winter-squash-frozen_f-ZmlkPTEyMjAyNg.html
One cup winter squash 18.5 carbs

That's before you add anything to them. And assuming we are talking a SMALL potato and only ONE cup of squash.

Get in your 150 grams of protein a day, 64 + oz of water and then fill out the rest of your diet with foods your gut will tolerate and the weight will come off.
