If you had poop anywhere else on your body...

...would wiping it with a dry piece of paper satisfy you that you were "clean?"

We are still in the process of moving and I DO.NOT.UNDERSTAND how people survive without a bidet or bidet toilet seat.

You can have a built-in butt-cleaner for not much money at all. (Or for thousands of dollars if you insist on the Japanese luxury models.).

I think my bidet seat might go in at the new house today. That would be a good thing.

Haha! I have used that exact same example before when I've been questioned about why I feel the need to use baby wipes (I've been using them since wayyyyyy before the DS). I wish I had a bidet, but until then, the wipes are an absolute MUST!

oh, good, more poop talk.

when I was 16 I went on a trip to France. none of us that shared a room in Paris understood what the point of a bidet was and it never had come up in class as far as I recall. we did learn the French don't tend to have the bath/shower in the same room as the toilet.

now that I'm thinking about it, surely they mentioned a bidet? I think it was mentioned but so vaguely we knew what it did but perhaps weren't sure what the point is. or it was perfectly clear and I'm an idiot, that's possible.

I think we thought it was to clean yourself after all the sex you had, because you were French and that meant a lot of sex. did I mention I was 16?

anyway...what was the subject? oh, yes. I put a little water on the TP if it seems necessary and call it good. frequently I am pooping right before a shower, anyway, so that's good timing.

I'm going to assume you get it put in today. just so I can wish you

OMG this is so true! I was using the bidets in Europe, and they worked more like sitz baths, where the little basin filled up, and you had to use your hand.

I LOVE the kind that replaces the seat to retrofit the toilets here, that just spray warm water, and oscillate if you want. Hands free, and squeaky clean.

HOW did we live before these bidet seats??

I got one at Costco for a few hundred that has a lot of bells and whistles I don't use, and see now that they have this basic one that I may have opted for if it were available 3 years ago. I like heated water, but electric parts mean more potential for things to break, and this new one is only $40.
This is the inexpensive one (and no electric cord-yay):

This is more like what I use, but they have a different brand now:

Charles bought me one for my birthday last year, and I never thought I would get used to it - until I did. Now staying at a hotel without one seems barbaric. http://www.totousa.com/Washlet/S300eS350e.aspx

We bought a used RV today (or, put a deposit on it anyway) - we've already had a talk about how I'm going to deal with my potty issues, and I have concluded that wet wipes of some sort will be required (and I'm going to look into an equivalent of the Diaper Genie so I don't have to toss the paper into the holding tank - any suggestions?).

Hmm, maybe you need the basic model in your RV.http://www.costco.com/Bio-Bidet-Elite-3.product.100015777.html
I like that there is no power supply needed, only water, and I think it would be easy enough to get a small water line to it. That would also minimize the tp that goes into the tank. Easier to empty when there are no tp globs in there.

The other thing, which I did as a normie, but ESPECIALLY make sure I do now is to get enzyme (the kind that eats poop) for the holding tank, and it pretty much eliminates the stink.
