The DS is a type of WLS. It’s the platinum of weight loss surgeries, we consider it far superior to the gastric bypass cause the loss is pretty much forever. But it takes an educated and informed individual to go toe to toe with uninformed medical professionals cause many have no clue it even exists. In fact, many think it’s no longer done, but it is to the tune of a few thousand a year.

Anyway, read everything you can in here, ask questions in any thread you run into. Doesn’t matter how old the thread is.
