MiniSue and her Significant Other and his 7-yr old left for Copenhagen on Thursday. Three days before they left, I got a text saying he was "...just now catching on to the jet lag considerations involved in a 7000 mile trip...LOLOLOL."

He has been all over the world, in the Navy, in a ship, that moved slowly from time zone to time zone.

A few hours ago, they were leaving for Legoland. They will be staying at a hostel. MiniSue has done that many times. (When she worked for an airline, she would sometimes travel in First or Business Class, then "rough it" in a hostel. Global perspective.)

Anyway...her hero almost lost it over the "you might wanna bring your own sheets" concept. "WHADDAYA MEAN, 'Rent linens'?"

Travel is such a learning experience.

Yup. But remember, in Europe, the buildings came first, then narrow roads, followed later by furniture delivery trucks. Where we lived, there were few residential streets wide enough for a truck carrying a king size bed. One place we lived, "the mattress" was in SIX pieces...each half of the bed was three box spring type things with a not very generous pad on top.

I can handle the beds better than the shower facilities. We had one in Germany we had to climb UP into...and the sink/shower head thing was shared between the sink and shower (you could have water in either, but not both) and had a 4 or 5 litre water heater. In Rome, we had a shower that was essentially just tile on the floor and a drain in the bathroom...almost like the shower in our tiny RV.

Reminds me that a friend, who was married to a guy from India, explained that we all have different "minimums." When she suggested that they should purchase a box a/c (and they had plenty of money) he reminded her that his mother and sisters had dirt floors. And, truth be told, I was astonished to discover that I'd married a guy who did not understand that a garbage disposal is within the minimums...like a roof over your head. Adjustment time. LOL

I love stories about people's travels; so interesting! will MiniSue & family being travelling all over Europe or just staying there?

a guy on another website is visiting Amsterdam - he posted a photo of his phone telling him the elevation was -30 meters.

kind of creepy if you think about it too much. :cautious:

Just a week or so outside of Copenhagen with her other family.
