What is standard?

@hilary1617 and @KathrynK do you know any info about filters and long-term placement? I have an IVC filter and I wonder sometimes if it's gonna cause me problems down the road...

I don't know about long term placement; they were keen to get the filter out quickly in my case.

FWIW, turns out my clots which had previously been very frequent and for which we could not determine a cause despite extensive testing, were due to cancer - the form I have, glucagonoma, is so rare that no one expected it or tested for it, though it is known to cause clots. I haven't had a clot since tumor removal.
