It has always been my dream to live broad. I watch International House-hunters and think why not? An episode will air and I check out real estate in that area. Can I afford it? What is the food like? Where is the closest airport? Is it safe?

So on a very rainy Sunday we are watching a show about St. Croix and I do my thing and find a house for sale that is cheep (turns out it was a time share so a fraction of the "real" cost). I get excited. Then it hit me what about healthcare? Is there a Hospital? How advanced are they? Can I move here and be taken care of if I have a bowel obstruction? I've never really thought about that before. In this case I can sign up to get a flight out on a private jet for a few hundred bucks incase of emergency. At my heaviest I never thought about the possible health complications stemming from Obesity.

This is probably not my spot but now I have a whole new set of considerations.

Don't ever let fear of the unknown stop you from doing anything! Here's my motto, I would rather die in a parachuting accident than in a nursing home! And I mean it. Since my DS, I have spent weeks in Tahiti and Spain. Rode a horse across Mexico and kayaked the Amazon. I haven't done much lately but that's all financial, I haven't lost my nerve!

Seriously, you can get waxed checking the mail. Do everything, see everything. When it's your time, it's your time. Safe is very over-rated! Life is for living!

oh, Whit - that sounds wonderful.

I used to subscribe to The Caretaker Gazette and it would sure make me dream of travel. huh, I can't make it's site load so I put in the wikipedia page as a link.

it's cool because of the incredible variety of jobs. lots for this country but also all over the world. and everything from "come be our Butler for $200,000 a year" to "live in our attic for free if you help with the goats" kind of deal.

ok I just spent a minute or two trying to find something....anything to put your mind at ease. I didn't find anything about WLS, much less about the DS, but I don't know how surgeons/dr's are categorised there. I know in the US mainlands they are bariatic surgeons, but here in the UK they are listed under general surgeons. Anyways, I found this list of MDs all over the VI not just St. C. It lists phone numbers so maybe you could call around as someone is bound so know something or someone who knows something :)
