A homely young woman (Stockard Channing) seeks revenge on men after plastic surgery makes her beautiful. "Channing found her niche with this smart, sardonic character and it would take her quite far in Hollywood."


This is serious camp... and Stockard plays it well.. I liked her in Grease , the West Wing, and just about anything she plays


Here's an example of Herman, the boyfriend/plumber who jilted her, lured to his death bed by a post plastic surgery Miriam, trying his best at pillow talk

I originally thought it was about weight... but the only thing Miriam changed was her face, after plastic surgery due to a car accident. But... same difference, rejection for looks

The movie is stuffed with good character actors from the 60s.. a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon

I always thought her character lost weight too. She was certainly dressed to appear fatter/thinner.

Yeah... she did appear heavier before the surgery

The main thing they changed was the eyebrows, really bushy in the beginning

I also liked her roommate.. the zoftig blonde who backflips her way to a fatal balcony fall, at Miriam's prodding ( she has a minor role in Play It Again Sam... telling Woody Allen's character "get lost creep"... can't think of a more prescient line)

I adore this movie.

I always thought her character lost weight too. She was certainly dressed to appear fatter/thinner.

it wasn't just frumpy clothes: pre "plastic surgery" she was much larger. and her face was weirdly shaped: one nostril was bigger than the other!

and her eyebrows were HUGE! I like how when they take off the bandages her eye makeup (and false lashes, looks like) is perfect.

In the meantime, I have decided to eat the cake (figuratively), burn the fancy/smelly candles, and travel as much as I can to see family and friends.
