Slowed down. Probably hitting first plateau. Still happy though. Still trying to get a handle on how this newly rerouted digestive system works. I added probiotics this week and it seems to have promise to get everything under control. Still having regular stomach grumbles though. Uggggg. This is starting to wear on me.

Good going.

My stomach still grumbles even at 10 plus years out.

Every day? I don't mind the grumbles, but I wake up with the feeling like a gremlin is trying to gnaw its way out of my stomach. I am guessing it is hunger. Something I NEVER experienced in the AM pre surgery. I almost never ate before 11AM. Now I can only drink a protein shake in the AM when I get up because my stomach is so upset. I do okay throughout the day, but get bad gas and diarrhea most evenings. Like I said though I think the probiotics are helping.

Thats why my first meal of the day is my tea and yogurt. We typically wake up around 7. After my yogurt and a few hours, I’m good. I can manage a second breakfast around 9-10.

I am having to get up way earlier for work and have to make time for myself. It is not probably a bad thing. I take an Align probiotic and my antacid when alarm goes off and then snooze. Then about 30 min later I get up and drink a protein shake then I can get ready for work. I have to poop before I hit the road because the drive to work is 45 min. The first week back to work I had to stop and use the restroom 3 different times, out of 5 days. I'm getting there, but there is a learning curve to being a DS'er.

Last week 195.2
This week 194.4

Bought a car this weekend. Having some problems with it so I am not sure if I'm going to have use the 7 day return window.

I've found that time of day matters a lot as far as how much I can eat. One of the reasons I didn't stay on days when I had the option was I could not really eat much until the afternoon, which on an early to bed, early to rise schedule meant I was never going to be able to get enough protein in. Right now I have a "low spot" around 12 AM to 3 AM where it's super easy to overdo it and be fighting reflux for an hour or so. Otherwise I can eat "normally" (for a postop). As your body heals and adapts you'll find your groove.

P.S. My stomach talks all the time now, I think part of it is that I've lost the insulation around the digestey bits.

Good for you.

2.5 years out and mine always grumbles. You get used to it (as do those around you..)

Are you on an anti acid? Most newbies are advised to take one at least for a while. Sorry if you’ve already answered this.

If you planning on stopping, you’re going the wrong direction.
Yes. I'm taking Omprezole. (Sp?)
You may need a larger dose or a different brand. Omeprazole does nothing for me, I may as well be popping sugar pills.
my PCP tried 2 others that worked well, Prevacid and Protonix. Don’t be afraid to tell the it isn’t helping. Omeprazole may the most common but it’s not the only one.

I have never had heart burn problems except during pregnancy and only cucumbers gave me indigestion pre surgery. I am taking it to help the healing process. I don't plan on taking it long term.
I am getting my routine down.... Take antacid and probiotic 5AM. Go back to bed till 5:30... Drink a protein shake... Get ready for work in between pooping (5 times) this AM and head to work about 7:15. At least I didn't have to stop to poop during my 45 min drive to work. I'm calling it a win!!! Then I don't go again all day so that is a plus.
