Sunday Weigh In (10/26/2014)

@Bagaof4 , I'm surprised you got a sweet tooth after WLS - isn't that unusual? I had one before and lost it for...dunno a year? two? but now it's back.

not as bad as pre-op, luckily. before I couldn't imagine "too sweet" but now I can.

And around and around! Sorry you are up from last week, but glad you are still down over the month.

Yeah, I'm only half on the ball recently. Trying to get some bad habits reined in without swinging wildly to the other side.. plus I can hold water better than Spongebob. It's nothing for me to gain or lose 5lbs in a week, mostly all water, up and down. I thought after the weight came off that the edema issues would go away- they never did. If I'm eating way too much salt, it's too warm, or I do a carb-overload, bye bye visible foot-bones.. and ankles.

I am sorry the edema didn't go away...that has to suck.

Jo - sounds like you have it worse but my socks still put a dent in my legs - I also thought that would go away with weight loss.

I have bad varicose veins - I suppose if I had them fixed it might help.

I had bad ones too...had mine fixed by a vein specialist about 15 months after my DS. My insurance covered it (except for the visit copays to a specialist).

My varicose veins are really visible on the right calf- the one that swells worst, the left- not as bumpy-roped, but still there.. and they ache. I've thought about it- but we currently have a HDHP. Holding off for something better.. Did the treatment help the edema issues? I hate having dentable shins. I've gotten some compression socks, but since they are black, and since ALL my socks are black knee-highs.. keeping track of them is harder. I have a mess of socks.

I didn't/don't have edema...just the varicose veins and spider veins.

NSV tho: I was standing there while they mapped my legs, the tech told me I had really SKINNY legs with NO fat which was why mine were way easy to see. (I was at my lowest point at that time).

The procedure was uncomfortable but it was after that that I realized my RLS was gone...varicose veins are a factor in Secondary RLS just like low ferritin/low iron saturation is also a factor.
