I would really appreciate it if some of you would give a review of the software you are using to track your food/weight loss/measurements and mention how well it works for the DS. It would be very helpful to many, especially to the new DSers (or about to be DSers). I've seen the question about apps asked a few times, but the answers end up getting lost in the netherworld of old posts. It would be great if the alternatives were all in one place, with some feedback about how well they work.

I've used a couple apps and myfitnesspal is the best hands down. It has everything you could possibly think of in their data base and on the chance that it doesn't, you can scan the bar code. It breaks it down into allll the nutritional info, then you can also look at totals for the day in each category and percentages. It tracks your weight with graphs and updates your daily goals for desired nutrition as you lose. Some of these features don't matter for us, but I'm trying to give a full review. I also really like that it syncs itself so while I'm out I use it on my phone, at home the iPad, and it keeps it all together. The thing I really like (because I'm a tad OCD) is that you can put recipes for the things you make at home and it tabulates all the info per serving then you can have accurate info for home cooked meals instead of guessing.
Yeah, I'm a fan

Thanks, ladies. I have started using it too, and it seems to be pretty good, so far. It's quite customisable, which I like. I just wish you could make carbs the central measurement, rather than calories.

True, I felt that wat at first too. Now I don't even notice the #, I literally don't know which part of the screen it's on, but in my head I can tell you exactly where carbs and protein are :)

I need to get back into doing MFP. I got sidetracked for a while about the DS math and it fell by the wayside. Thanks for the reminder.

I like the Daily Plate tracking through LiveStrong. I tried the Lose It app on my ipod, but didn't like it as much as MFP.

yeah I used to use SparkPeople and it was okish....was I find MFP (myfitnesspal) has a lot more UK foods than other places and it might be the same for Oz. I like the phone app cos it gives you a pie chart of carbs, protein and fats :)

Has anyone used FatSecret.com? It allows you to track net carbs, which I can't find a way of doing in MFP. It doesn't seem to have a place to record body measurements, though, which is a pity. Any other thoughts on it vs MFP?

Many people have entered specific foods only with net carbs. For example: "Avocado (Net Carbs) - Large". As long as you are careful it should work just fine.
