Well, got my first tooth implant last week. Have been watching youtube videos about tooth implants (not for the squeamish!) and in the interest of improved oral hygiene and hopes of preserving my existing teeth and maintaining my implant... I am considering purchasing a water pik.

Overall, as long as I take my supplements, my gums seem to be in pretty good shape, though they are receding a bit and I have some problem reaching my back molars with floss.

Any opinions about water piks and which one would work best?

I love my water pik! I don't know which one I own. It does all the things I want it to do though.

I like waterpiks after flossing, because I have weird food hiding places.

I happen to like the old style water pik, that has an open water reservoir that stays on the counter, because it holds much more water, and therefor lasts longer. The newest waterpik I have, has a tiny resevoir in the unit that is held up by your face, and lasts less than a minute, so I have to fill it multiple times each time I use it.

Thanks everybody. I went to CVS and purchased the classic waterpik. I really like it! Need some practice to not spray myself all over with water. Keep forgetting to turn it off before taking it out of my mouth.

Yeah, I had that issue too! And even more fun was the power settings. I had to stick it on the weakest one for a LONG time, dh likes it about halfway up the dial.
