I had my hiatal hernia repaired on Feb 2nd, spent one night in the hospital but had to get home to get some sleep. My spirometer and I are still not on speaking terms but it’s getting better. I’m off my PPI, but the gas they used to inflate my abdomen hurts like hell. I know walking and time are the only cures. So I’m walking. Every chance I get. Time just has to happen.

I'm glad it's over and you are at home. I hope the pain gets better ASAP! what happens with the spirometer??? it's your best exercise to avoid pnuemonia, but I'm sure you know that.

I know it is…but it’s hurting my chest wall to even breathe and coughing is torture. But I’m doing better each time I use it.
Congrats on getting it done! It will pay off in the long run.
It already is, I haven’t had a PPI since the morning of surgery. By all rights, I’d be in absolute misery.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm scolding or anything like that, I figured you knew but... sometimes things don't go without saying and you can't be at your best right now!

and so sorry to hear your pain is this bad. and that it's goopy sounding.

glad you know to be walking!

I don’t mind the reminder.

Hope that time passes swiftly until you feel better and then you have lasting relief. Glad you are home safe.

The gas is awful and sometimes they don’t even try to squish as much of the gas out that they push in. Fixing a muscle has got to be painful too!

But definitely keep doing the breathing exercises so you can avoid pneumonia on top of it. This season of viruses has been rough.

I’m 8 days post op.
No PPI since the morning of the operation.
The gas is finally gone.
I‘ve managed to not lose much weight. I think it’s all the high calorie liquids and super soft I’ve ingested.
I am bored with the broths I had, then tonight, it occurred to me, we had tomato soup in the house. So I made that. Made a grilled cheese sandwich for hubby. That cup of soup tasted wonderful. Having a mature sleeve has definitely helped.

But the absolute best news is I’m off my PPI’s. I know my osteoporosis specialist will be over the moon.

I am so happy for you. What a wonderful update!
