Most people would count the loosening of rings a NSV. Not me not this ring...It's not an antique, it was not my mothers or grandmothers. I only wore those those on occasion and they are now way to loose. It's my substitute wedding band. I noticed it missing on my way home from work. I have no idea when or where it slipped off.

The Story behind the ring.
I had been married about a year when my husband was transferred to Hawaii. We had tons of local friends and were invited to baby luaus, dinners and parties. I loved it especially the food. Lau Lau's, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Chicken Long Rice, Poi (yes I loved it). Plate lunch with lots of rice and macaroni salad. I gained 50 pounds the first year alone.

So one day about a year an a half into our 4 year post I was in the bathroom crying. My husband asked me why I was so distraught. When I told him I could not get my wedding ring back on he just smiled and said he loved me. I'll never forget the big comforting hug he gave me. The next day he came home with a Traditional Hawaiian Ring and told me I was his Queen (Queen Emma pattern).

I have been wearing that ring since 1998. When I lost weight after RNY surgery in 2002 I just switched it to the other hand and wore it as a right hand ring. When the weight creeped back on I moved it back over to my ring finger. About 6 months after DS revision it went back to my right hand. I knew it was kind of loose but I thought I had a little more time before I had to put it away.

I am so bummed.

so sorry for your loss. Yes, we can become attached to physical items that represent wonderful moments in our relationships. So try to recover it, then grieve the loss if you can't.

The most important to remember - you now have your health and you still have your wonderful husband. I am sure that when he learns how you have been hurt by this loss, he will do something as wonderful as he did years ago. Maybe a new ring to mark your wonderful new life.

I lost a ring at work once too, post-DS. I looked everywhere - to no avail.

Then new management came in, and canned everyone. While I was cleaning out my files, I emptied the documents out of a Redweld folder and there was my ring. Took just a little bit of the sting out of losing my job.

Don't give up. Keep looking! I will be hoping you find it!

I lost a tiny diamond from a ring once in the building where I worked. Huge place. I actually found it on the carpet the same day I lost it!

I lost my 5 year anniversary band after my DS. It was just a simple gold band, but I was still devastated. I never found it, and since my mom died right after my DS I started wearing her wedding band in its place. I feel your pain- it was a small thing, but it still bothers me. The only good news is it did force me to get off my butt and actually get the rest of my rings resized.
