I have never been one to chase the latest technology, and don't like updating stuff on a constant basis, and am totally okeydokey being out of the loop with the coolest sites or aps or whatever.

So I HATE that I am obsessed with my new phone. I made my old android limp along for years, and would continue to flog it into submission, but after reading about project fi, and the features and travel ease with it, I made the leap to one of the google pixel models.

It is beyond rude to futz around on your phone when eating or socializing with other actual humans, but I'm beginning to think I'd be OK being shunned from gatherings to just be with pixel. It's negating my need for humans. OMG it just told me what was coming in the mail. I want to have it's babies.

LOL. Congrats on the new phone!

Myself and all the people I know are about 75% like those people. We hangout and are perfectly happy to be in each others company on our devices, but when appropriate they go down and attention is paid :) There is just SO MUCH online these day like directions, places to eat, where to visit etc and then social media...it's not surprising most people are on their phones a lot. Then you have dweebos like the hubz and I who play pokemon lol and there ya go :)

I finally decided to get a smart phone. I wanted the properties of my Android tablet and the use of a phone in one device. I went with Consumer Cellular because I was able to choose my usage limits. My monthly choices: 250 Talk minutes/unlimited text with 1.5 GB of web data. I may use as much as 20% of my limit in a month, but it's usually far less. My deep contempt and ingrained prejudice against cell phones has taken a blow yet it's more like a mere scratch instead of a mortal wound.:whistling:

Omg I have google fi too!! I've never met anyone else that had it. I have the nexus phone, not the pixel--of course they came out with the new pixel like, the month after I upgraded.

I travel a whoooole bunch and I rarely run in to dead zones. It's great!

I've had a smart phone for years, and have made a point of keeping data limited, but this phone, while technically just paying for what I use data-wise, is forcing me to be a grownup.

The synchronization between all the aps and this phone is amazing. I've been reminded that I'm "x" minutes away with my current location from my appointment that I have at such and such location, and need to leave now to have adequate travel time. The reminder from things gleaned from my calendar and email, like fight times and hotel check in, anticipated fedex delivery, dentist appt, and so far no overlap of stuff I don't want to be bombarded with. I've also been unimpressed with the voice interactions of all previous phones I've tried. The "ok google" thing is the first one I'll use.

I almost went with something else, as I was put on a wait list for this particular phone in NOVEMBER, and was getting ticked about the back order. Glad I waited.

I have Project Fi as well and love it. I rarely use more than 1 GB of data and love that my total phone bill is <$30.

I switched to a Google Pixel in January and it has been great so far.

I had a Samsung Galaxy for 2 years and switched to an HTC One about a year and a half ago. It's ok, but I liked my Samsung better. I may have to check out your model!
