I saw my endocrinologist for my Prolia injection. I gave him my latest bone scan. I have a 3% increase in bone density. That has taken me away from osteoporosis. No literal happy dance due to osteoarthritis, but my mind I'm dancing my butt off
I was on Boniva and Forteo before I went to Prolia. I was reluctant to use Forteo because I do not like needles. However, adjusted my attitude and found it not to be such a bad thing. The only other problem I had was making sure I had a refrigerator when away from home for a few days. Fortunately, the hotel had mini-fridges for medications that needed to be kept cold.I’m seeing my bone specialist soon bc I don’t want to suffer another injury like I’m going through - which I was told was made worse due to my osteoporosis. The surgeon even had to use cancellous chips to fill in gaps in the bones.
I want to build bone & I feel the Reclast is just holding me where I am. It sure didn’t build bone according to my surgeon’s report. I’m thinking about Prolia or Forteo.

Best wishes on your next venture in osteoporosis treatment.
I would do it again in a heartbeat. I think I watch too much TV and let my imagination run amok. I was thinking bigger hypodermics with long needles. You know, horror movie props. LOLTY.
So would you have taken Forteo if needles didn't bother you at that time (bc I think you do it yourself)? I’ll take anything to prevent this from happening to me again.
On thing I learn from my years of insulin injections was how to inject myself without hurting myself. You place the needle on your skin, if it hurts you are on a pain receptor so move it just a hair til it doesn’t hurt, then inject.I would do it again in a heartbeat. The needles are tiny; short and very sharp. There were many times I barely felt them at all. I just pinched up a little bit of tissue and injected myself. My mother had severe osteoporosis. Her experience scared me enough to put on my big girl panties and do the injections. Her worst fracture occurred when she twisted her leg a little getting up off the toilet. The hip fracture caused her to crash into the sink. She had rib fractures as well as the hip.
Now you’re gonna make me think, dammit.I saw my endocrinologist for my Prolia injection. I gave him my latest bone scan. I have a 3% increase in bone density. That has taken me away from osteoporosis. No literal happy dance due to osteoarthritis, but my mind I'm dancing my butt off
I'm sorry. Now you’re gonna make me think, dammit.
Okay. Pretty sure I just broke something else in my spine. Just asked my PCP for an order for an MRI.I'm sorry.

I am fairly neurotic. Yet it seem like the older I get, I have less f u c k s to give. (Spell check does not cooperate when I try to drop F bombs.) When I think of some the risky behaviors I lived through, taking Prolia doesn't bother me. Sometimes it seem like I've been lucky to live long enough to have some of the problems that accompany aging. The older I get, more I get concerned about comfort.Okay. But here’s the CURRENT thing that scares me…for you and for me…it has been suggested—on pubmed, not a FB osteoporosis group—that while there is not cause-and-effect-type-PROOF and more time is needed, the bone resorption AFTER STOPPING Prolia may be very problematic.
A 2017 article says that the (then) recommendation was that high risk people do an additional five years and lower risk people follow Prolia with a bisphosphonate.

A MORE RECENT article suggests that a single injection of Zoledronate helped retain BMD and was not related to additional fractures.

IOW, I‘d like you to be as neurotic as I am. (Sometimes, it’s lonely out here.)
