Acesulfame Potassium. I have never heard of it. It is in my Optimum Nutrition Double Chocolate protien shake. What is your take on it? Good, bad or UGLY?
Acesulfame with aspartame gives the most "natural" sucrose taste, as they can use half as much of each, and give the same amount of sweet with half of the slight aftertastes of each. That's how my Fresca and Diet Barq's are sweetened. I'm not afraid of them (and they don't have the "-itol" issues).
"Acesulfame K is often blended with other sweeteners (usually sucralose or aspartame). These blends are reputed to give a more sucrose like taste whereby each sweetener masks the other's aftertaste, and/or exhibits a synergistic effect by which the blend is sweeter than its components."
