Fritz is still on antibiotics but his regular vet (not the ones at the emergency vet/hospital where he was) suggested I use probiotics for him and the others anytime they have some diarrhea. so it doesn't get out of hand! :ambulance6zx:

got some of the suggested stuff - lord, it's expensive - and now I'm thinking, is it a waste to give him this when he is still on antibiotics? I'll call his vet tomorrow but thought I'd ask here.

I wonder the same thing about people: if I am on antibiotics is it wasting probiotics to take them at the same time?

It is my understanding that it is not a waste to take probiotics the same time as antibiotics. And, depending on what antibiotic you are taking, something like Florastor which is yeast based probiotic, won't even be touched by the antibiotic and will help in combating C-Diff.

thanks, yes we have pumpkin & it was when I brought that up that the vet suggested the purina stuff.

that's good to know, Kathy, we have tons of C-Diff where I work. ugh!
