    Potassium. Which One? How Much?

No you were helpful. I am on Klor-Con M20 Extended release and considered asking my doctor to switch me to the powder because I thought it might absorb better. However, it is more expensive and right now I don't have any insurance. That was the reason I was considering trying...

    Potassium. Which One? How Much?

My pharmacist told me about an online coupon available from GoodRx.com. I was able to buy the potassium I have been taking for 1/3 the uninsured cost I would normally pay. That helps for now. I'm still researching the whole extended release issue. Thanks.

    Potassium. Which One? How Much?

Potassium Chloride vs Potassium Gluconate. I am 3 years out from my Standard DS. For about 16 months now I have been taking high doses of prescription Potassium Chloride. My numbers have risen very slowly. For various reasons I would like to switch to an over the counter Potassium. The dosage...

Dr Daniel Cottam, BMI of Utah.

It is also important to know that after surgery you will be placed on a strict 1000 a day calorie diet. You could probably do that now for yourself.

Dr Daniel Cottam, BMI of Utah.

Jo Lynne, to answer your question to me, I had the standard BPD-DS performed by Dr Cottam in September of 2012. He had only been with BMI about a year then, and had been performing the DS since the Spring of that year. He had previously performed the standard DS on patients in another state...

Dr Daniel Cottam, BMI of Utah.

Recently I learned new facts about my Surgeon Dr Daniel Cottam and the Bariatric Medicine Clinic in SLC Utah. In 2014 I had been told by BMI staff members that Dr Cottam was experimenting with his own version of a SIPS surgery. I was also told that he was still performing the Standard BPD-DS as...

    please help asap

It took me four months before I could eat more than 2-4 bites of anything, stand the taste of water and some other favorite foods, and drink milk without barfing. Please don't judge the results of your surgery by these first few weeks.

    Don't loose anymore weight?

Interesting point Lauren. Also interesting in my case is the fact that my daughters, grandchildren, and husband do not think I am too thin. In other words, the ones who have been the closest to me through all those overweight years, as well as by my side for the last two, use words like "just...

    Pre-Op BMI

I really am hoping that in the future comorbidities will be considered more than bmi. I know people who are as big or bigger than I was, who do not have the serious health problems I had. Age can also be a factor. Excess weight works with genetics and lifelong habits to determine the extent...

    Don't loose anymore weight?

Both my surgeon and my pcp want me to stop loosing. I actually had someone tell me I looked emaciated, more than once. She is the tiniest person I know. The most common remark I get is, "Dee, you are melting. When are you going to stop?" I think I have stopped. I have been hovering at the...

Whining Newbie-Swore I would not be one, but...

For me it was water, water, water, and a sip of warm herb tea, water, water, water, warm broth, and water. I could not drink ice water, or cold water for months. I am so impressed that you are getting 54-60 ounces a day, in already. That's awesome.

    Pain & Vomiting Update DeeDeeDS

Just a little update on the update....It has been six weeks now and I have been feeling great. I have only vomited once and know exactly why. I am learning just how much liquid I need, how much food I can handle, and which foods to avoid or restrict, to keep my stomach functioning properly...

    Is this DS working??

I could only eat up to six bites of anything for four months so I ate every hour or so. Later I found that I could eat more some days than others and that still is true for me. Right now you are doing great. Later just be sure to eat the right foods. Best wishes!

The DS will cause constant diarrhea?

I truly believe it all depends on what the post DS'er eats or doesn't eat unless there is some underlying problem. If I eat a lot of carbs, either fruit or starch, it's a problem. On the other hand if I am low on liquid and fat it goes the other way. Anytime someone starts this argument with...

Winning the argument with a nutritionist

The most annoying thing my Nut keeps pushing is low fat and only three meals a day. I have actually talked to gals in the waiting room who are loosing slowly, always hungry, experiencing stomach pain, and are constipated. I send them here. Thanks Liz!

The Different types of Protein Powder.

I try a new brand of protein powder or pre mixed every once in a while but always come back to my old stand by. I suggest trying different flavors within a brand. I think the Body Fortress Vanilla and Choc-PEANUT Butter flavors are nasty, but really like the regular Chocolate and Strawberry...
