But I didn't really say why. Most of you don't really know that my dh is medically disabled from his last job. They medically retired him, he did not ask for retirement.
In March we had to go for his yearly visit with his doc who handles his disability. This year they got squirrley and made it a real hassle after accepting everything as it was for 6 years.
Anyway, this is MY half of the conversation I had with Diana about 2 months ago.
The neurophysiologist was in Wilmington, NC where we lived from 2007-2009.
A couple of things he did this year differently AFTER we got hassled was 1) ask for a referral to a neurosurgeon here locally for followup if needed and 2) a referral back to the doc in Wilmington, NC.
Charles goes thru a new battery of tests late this month. I will stay home that time since he will be testing most of the time he is there. But his follow up in late August, I will go.
What is most likely to happen is we get to continue as we are now...retired/on LTD & SSDI.
What COULD happen is his memory has improved enough for him to be re-employed. If that is the case, GE has to reinstate him since they retired him. AT his old salary and with full benefits. It's possible we could end up moving...where, who knows, but it is also possible that he could be assigned to one of the two area GE facilities. We have one 40 mins southwest of us and another 45 mins north of us. Neither are in his old field of Nuclear Engineering but BOTH are engineering facilities and he is a Mechanical Engineer by degree, Bachelor's and Master's. Or we could end up back in Wilmington.
So keep us in your thoughts please. I honestly don't know which way would be best. I do know that I like where we are and how we live. We aren't hurting in the financial arena now...we were for a long time. BUT I also know that it would not hurt my feelings to go back to our old salary level AND have GE health benefits, retirement, etc.
