Hi Newanatomy,
I believe I read that you traveled to have Dr. Simper do your surgery. Did you go back and see him for a follow up appt. at a few weeks out? They've kinda left it up to me.
Yes, I did travel to Utah but only from 3 hours away by car. I did not go back for a follow up. I was not impressed with the office or with Dr. Simper (other than his abilities as a surgeon). Luckily, I have had very few and minor ailments since my surgery almost 10 months ago. I called Dr. Simper once after my surgery about some stomach cramps I was having he told me he didn't know what it was and to go to the ER. I said thanks, meaning thanks for nothing, and hung up. I got on the computer and found out it might be from acid. I called my PCP, got in the next morning and got a script for Prevacid and have done pretty well since. I still get those cramps sometimes but, they are much milder now.
Ironically, it was Dr. McKinely (probably misspelled) that wrote the script for 20 percocets. Dr. Simper left for vacation so he was following up with me in the hospital. I can't believe he only gave you 10!! That's insane!! I'm going to see the general surgeon today to re-evaluate my open incision. I'm hoping he will be a little more reasonable. I hope so, I would not count on it.
I plan on ordering the vitalady plan this week. I feel like I need a little hand holding at this stage and I like the fact she has them pre-packaged.
If I were you, I would not order the packets. It may be a while before you are able to take more than a multi-vitamin. You will be adding to your vitamins one pill at a time until you are taking everything you need. Then, you will be adjusting according to your labs. You might not be taking all your vitamins for a month or more. Just make sure you have a multi-vitamin, a generic version of Centrum is great and calcium citrate to start. You can get and add others as you are ready for them. That way, you are not breaking into packets trying to keep things straight. Don't buy chewables, you will not need them unless you have trouble swallowing now. Do not buy and ADEK combo type pills and do not buy anything Dr Simper's office is selling.
