finally saw the movie - really enjoyed it, at least partly because I didn't know anything about it before. so rare, haven't seen the trailer or read reviews and I can watch it unfold the way it was meant to.

does anyone know if the book is worth reading? I see there are two sequels.

All of the books are worth reading. The second movie is already out too, BTW. I enjoyed this series, not perfect, but what is?

In my opinion, the books were better (at least the first one) because we got more of Katniss' internal dialogue.

The books were better. They got increasingly dark as the series went on, but it wasn't exactly supposed to a lighthearted story. There's always so many details and nuances they can't fit into a movie, plus the casting of Peeta bugged me ;)

I am currently in the middle of reading Catching Fire and it is "can't put down" good. but that along with the rain - all day and supposed to be tomorrow, too - I am in a dark mood.

:090:

should put it down and turn on some fast music and clean....or I could make a pot of tea and read some more. :115:

I'd go with tea and reading. A little exercise and music may lift your mood, but time with a book is always time well spent. Even a book you don't like makes you think.
