Damn ducks.

They keep bothering us. They think it’s THEIR pool.

Well…see.…There’s a BIG drake. And then two small drakes, but even those two are decked out in mating plumage. Not as “demonstrative” as the peacocks MiniSue encountered this morning, but still obviously ”in the mood.”

So: three mallard drakes—one large, two medium; 30,000 gallons of water; a pound of salt; a toaster on a long cord that I toss into the pool at the right time…but how many onions?

Never mind the onions, I think you need to add more ducks to achieve the proper duck-to-water ratio.

where were the peacocks??? I mean, they aren't wild are they?

They ARE wild. My niece couldn’t get out of her underground parking due to peacocks in the driveway apron.

Here’s the peahen that was wandering around the parking lot at my dentist’s office.

I’d say that THIS guy was her friend, but the photos were taken months apart.

And then, summer evenings will include…PARROTS! Screeching, crapping parrots!

We are getting the semi yearly influx of Canadian damned geese. There is a stop in the area near us so we hear them flying overhead. Thankfully, there time here is limited.

When I was a kid in Texas I used to take care of a small hobby farm whenever the owner went out of town. He raised peacocks, I loved going out there to feed and water them. I would sit there for hours and just listen and watch them. But they were more like pets than wild. They liked people.
