Today we learned that one extended family member is pregnant.  Are we cheering?  No; we’re groaning.  Why?  Does this make me an elitist snob?

The preggers lady is 38 years old, weighs at least 325# so maybe not a great place to start, is unmarried, makes about $45,000/yr (in her zip code the cheapest 2 Bed, 1 Bath, 682 sq ft apt rents for $2100/mo…so 80% of her net pay.) She and her boyfriend have, for a few years, lived with his parents…and her 17-yr-old from a previous liasion (who disappeared at the time of the positive pregnancy test 18 years ago) also live there, in a three-bedroom apartment.

I do not understand why people who do not have the resources to care for themselves create “underprivileged children.” (That’s a term we used to use.).

(The saving grace is that we don’t share any DNA.  She is the step-daughter of a family member.)

I repeat:  AAAARGH!!!
