There is so much more to morbid obesity, metabolism, and individual variation than the medical community knows. We learn more all the time, and this article is a great example. It also helps to explain the type of frustration some patients experience when they make every effort to improve their health, follow instructions, improvement is not seen, and the patient is blamed.

This is just one example, and doesn't apply to everyone, but the general idea is important. Remember when we were all told it was "calories in, calories out"? I think most of the medical community now understands that it isn't that simple. Now we are learning that at least for some people, it isn't "do the exercise, see the health benefits", either.

I love this article! Thank you for posting!

H took the exercise thing very seriously. He was on that treadmill usually 6 nights a week. His ONLY serious injuries were from falling asleep on it and falling down! Did it help him? Who knows but the DS fixed his type two in the time it took to do the surgery.
