It does sound like the studies were done on an RNY population, I wonder if the DS has the same outcomes though. I, personally, haven't heard any anecdotal evidence suggesting that in over 10 years of communicating with DS patients and you would think at least a few of them would have mentioned something as serious as colon cancer. I don't really know enough to comment on the GLP-1 factor in DS patients. I also wonder how many of the statistics in humans could be linked to the meds for Type II diabetes rather than the surgery itself. IDK

I am not sure what this sentence is supposed to say but, RNY IS a bariatric surgery as is the DS or a sleeve. All are types of bariatric surgeries.

All I really got out of that story was, WLS should never be given to rats because it may cause them to get colon cancer.

Also, the diet is very different between RNY and DS. The correlation of risk may be tied to the diet of a RNY'r as well. Don't know, just a thought.

In the time I've been around I don't think I've seen anyone post about colon cancer. I just try to read some of these stories and/or publications and post them so all the very smart people on here can comment.

Geeeeee don't tell my mom. She is convinced that the DS is hurting me because I use my guts way to much. LOL
