@MsJacquiiC

I haven't used the bookmarking feature but then *I* tend to sticky posts I want to find later. There is something to be said for having that option :)

Just got mail that the Seattle DS Group (http://www.meetup.com/wls-90/) is going to meet again in April. At least for April they will be meeting at the Bellevue Public Library. I only attended one meeting before they took a hiatus, but the veterans that attended that meeting were super helpful. People attended from all over the state. If you can't make it @EricW, I will ask about doctors for you. Any thing else you need from the locals?

How are things shaping up?

I really appreciate it Brandy. I think I am on a decent start for now. I and using the Vita Lady basic list with extra D3 to 150,000/day. I got a lead on a Hematologist in the Seattle Area who I will follow up with soon. I leave out of state on Monday for a couple weeks then have a big project start up when I return. I am hoping to have a normal schedule the 3rd week or so of April when I will start scheduling appointments New PCP/Rabkin/ Hemotologist/Endo... I know I can get Iron infusions to get going, what else can be infused or jump started?

I was wondering about B-9 Folic Acid. When I ordered it from Amazon it stated the F/A at 1200mcg but didn't mention the B-9. Is it just in the F/A or did I order the wrong stuff? I also see a recommendation for K-2. Do I need that and how much to start?

Lastly, what about a probiotic? Any suggestions? I really appreciate all the help from you and all the others. I think I'll go a month or so on this track and then try to have a more complete blood lab to take to the specialist and get a peak at any possible improvements in that time. Take care and thanks again. EW

Here is another jump start for you. Go to patchmd and place an order. If you look you can find a 40% off promo code. I would start at least with the calcium and D patches daily...ADDED to what you are already taking orally. The vites/minerals in the patches are absorbed transdermally and bypass the gut and therefore the malabsorbtion of the DS. The patches are new and not really proven over time but people are reporting some good, if anecdotal, results.

I would do this in your position!

All the B vitamins have names and numbers so B9 is Folic Acid.

I think 600 mg is the troubled bones K2 recommendation from this thread: http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/i-have-osteoperosis-now.906/ Vitalady/BioTech capsule for K2 600mcg a day, and kept with 100K D3 every other day, 50K the other days, a magnesium citrate capsule with every calcium dose, 3,600mg of calcium citrate via capsules- not tablets, a boron tablet with every calcium dose, Strongtium 300 mg. and Vit K1 1,000mg.

Your calcium needs to broken up into 600 mg doses and remember to separate it from your iron doses if you are not taking hemm iron.

The correct portion of calcium will probably turn your colon into a rock unless you dose with lots of things to help. Magnesium oxide can help, but do not count it towards the 250 mg of mag you need for every 500 mg of calcium because it is hard for our bodies to absorb it. Miralax (or generic Miralax) is awesome. Aloe (fresh or pills) is a very gentle laxative. For the most part, you do not want to get stuck on a daily laxative, but getting your body used to all this calcium and still flowing is going to be a challenge I think. It is *my* biggest challenge anyway. It works out that for every vitamin I take, I take something for colon problem. Especially at first, you will probably need to be that proactive. I don't know if a probiotic will help or hurt. I tend to stay away from them because they have a history of causing me constipation pre-surgery.

If you are having a problem with constipation, do not ignore it. It can lead to hospitalization or hemorrhoids or anal fissures and we are talking big life time, send you to surgery problems. If you do have this problem, post something and there will a great flowing of advice from people who know this subject!

Yup. Sounds like it! I think they only have that one choice for calcium and D3.

OK, so I am a couple weeks in following the VitaLady startup list for DS'rs with a few add ons. Everything seems to be working fine. No issues taking the pills really just a little weird at first looking at so many. I have really been worried about the bowel blockage thing with the introduction of calcium. I think I get nervous anytime I have gone more than a few hours without a trip to the can.

The only one thing different I have experienced started yeaterday. I got the hiccups twice in the same day. In my last 52 years I have had them 10 times maybe. Yesterday they seemed to go away fairly quickly. Today I got them 3 times and twice lasted more than an hour.

Anyone ever heard of this. Is it a precursor to hiccup death. I talk all day long and it's a pain I'm telling you. Any experience or remedies are appreciated. Thanks all. EW

Diana, are you teasing about the brain tumor because you can sense Im a wuss? I looked up some home remedies and one was pull hard on your tongue. I did it, it worked first try. I had them for an hour prior. It isn't air with the pills, got this second batch in the middle of a rib steak.

Does the calcium related blockage just suddenly plug or does it develop in stages with time. I am noticing subtle changes but normal volumes daily. Its been a mice change so far, no screamers for weeks. I am at a place right now where experimenting with softeners could be a bad thing if I got too much as there is no where to go to a facility other than start and end of day. What are some of the first symptoms of calcium related blockage? Should I cut back on the 600mg 3x times a day of Calcium until I get home and near facilities? Any advice or experience is appreciated.....I hope I didn't ruin anyones dinner. EW

Gulping all the pills at once then eating could have been it. Morning and lunch today I did my pills two at a time and so far so good. After thinking it over a bit I walked out late last night to a Wendy's and got a small frosty. In the last 6 years that would only create one effect other than brain freeze. Well, this morning confirmed that I have no chance of blockage any longer. I think I'll keep up the fatty diet and roll forward full strength on the calcium.

What about fiber. I tried a Fiber One bar yesterday and for 120 calories it was good. Would fiber help with the calcium side effects of they show. I know there are fiber liquids as well that encourage regularity. Thanks again for the advise. EW.
