More good news

Well finally! So happy for you and Dianna.
Thank you my friend. I really do appreciate it. I am hoping we can get out your way sometime this coming year so we'll have to grab dinner.

That would be great. Let me know when you plan to travel to my neck of the woods.

Wait - if you work from home, does that mean you can move anywhere?? Hint hint.
Oh believe me I have thought about what beach city I want to move to, at least until the polar Ice cap melts and floods my city.....but realtor fees, closing costs and $10K minimum for movers will eat up a lot of our equity.

That being said I think the Sacramento area is pretty affordable and should not be swallowed by the sea so maybe that will actually be beach front property in 10 years??

Most definitely. We may be in the Orange/Anaheim area for one of our niece's wedding on December, 27 but obviously that is a long way from you but we still might head your way next year some time. We have a lot of traveling we need to do.

I was wondering how you've been and here you go posting good news! Congratulations.:ngbbs450d0391e9c80:
Thanks my friend. I really appreciate it. I am struggling with chronic back pain for which I've had numerous pain management injections that have done nothing for me, consequently; i am going through the process to trial and then get a pain pump implanted.

I'm sorry to hear about your chronic back pain. Working from home will allow you to at least wear comfortable clothes. Again, thanks for sharing your good news.

The working from home is a mixed blessing because I miss the interaction of others at work plus there are more food options for me when I go to work (cafeteria and restaurants around when in my small town very limited choices with restaurants...fried, fried and fried). Also having to walk from my car into the office and walking to and from meeting rooms is good for me as well and keeps me out of my chair all day. I will have to force myself to get up every hour for 5 minutes or so and to walk during "lunch time and in the evening". There is a YMCA being built sometime next year (still not sure on date as I think they are still coming up with funding) as a part of a brand new Health clinic that is going up now. It is right behind my neighbors house across the street from us so I want that Y to get built ASAP because the community center now doesn't have jack for weight training and I need that badly. The closest gym is about 15 minutes away so not overly convenient and easy excuse not to do it....but if I can get my IBS and lower back in check I will start working out again.

Anyway thanks. I like being able to work from home for now because I am not 100% and it will allow me to work even it not feeling great, but I will miss seeing work peeps everyday.

I hear you about being around people. Since I retired, I hadn't been around many people. Now I volunteer at the local library. I help in the adult computer area. So far, I've been able to help about 98% of the time. So many things have to be done on-line these days. I was able to help an 83 y.o. man apply to Wal-Mart. Simple stuff like setting up e-mail, creating accounts, etc.

I hope things continue to go well for you, Cameron, and all of your family members.

That makes me sad that an 83 year old man has to apply for a job at all, much less at Walmart.
He's actually quite spry. I know Wal-Mart is often a less desirable employer, yet I've seen older people sweeping the floors and other lighter tasks. Jobs are hard to find around here since so many manufacturing plants closed up. Wal-Mart is one of the few places around here that does hire older people. That and fast food. FWIW, I've known older people who have part-time jobs to pay for the little luxuries that are beyond the retirement check. Take vacations, spoil the grandchildren, that kind of thing.
