Hello all. I was banded in August 2000 and lost 126 pounds before getting an erosion. I had the band removed and converted to BPDDS ( + removal of gallbladder and appendix) in November 2004. I did well and maintained 100% excess weight loss for 7 years then I started to be careless and regained 28 pounds.
I had all but given up relosing until January when I had a motorbike accident. I broke my fibula and also had a double fracture of my femur. I had surgery and the pain relief made me very nauseous. After a month I started to eat again but my sleeve was much tighter. It has remained that way. I now weight 147 pounds (10 st 7) and have maintained 100% EWL for 4 months
My post DS journey hasn't been the easiest. 6 kidney stones, hiatus hernia and osteopenia (hence triple fracture). I am reliving the novelty of fitting into a US6/UK10 and adamant I would get so careless again. I've been working as a clinical nurse specialist/ nurse practitioner in bariatrics for 14 years. Unfortunately, I have yet to work with a team well versed at managing DSers post op. My GP is great and takes his lead from me although the practice manager gets twitchy about prescription costs.
I was recommended to join this group so I'm very pleased to be here
