BCBS approved DS surgery...excited and scared..
Trying to figure out the best vitamins and wanting to make sure I have all that I need. Surgeon will not confirm surgery date until all protein and vitamins are purchased and his team has approved them.

Congrats!

Find out what your surgeon wants, buy JUST enough to get approved then once you are thru surgery, follow THIS LIST: http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/vitalady-links.11/ Most people need to start there and then tweak once you start getting post op labs. And after surgery, you can do what is best for you not suit HIS agenda for vitamins/protein...after all he can't take your DS away afterwards.

As far as protein powder, what if you don't like what he "approves of" but can tolerate a different one? Best rule of thumb, get the best protein you can afford and will drink! Nothing helps if you can't drink it.

Very True..thanks for the advice!

And make sure you are getting a true DS!
Really... I should apologize for this statement. I SHOULD have said make sure you know and agree with what you are getting! I pretty much agree with Diana that the RNY should be replaced by the SADI. But all patients need to be truthfully told what they are having done to their insides!
