What do these values mean?

Could someone explain what the decreasing values mean and any ways I can get them going in the right direction? When I had bloodwork in December the values were the same. Unfortunately I don’t see the dr who ordered these tests until March.

Look at the normal ranges. You are just barely out of them. To get the ENTIRE iron panel, you need Ferritin. If that is also low, you need more iron. Most of us, as you probably know, get iron infusions when extremely low.

Are you taking oral heme iron?

My ferritin is at 76 which is in the normal range. In light of good ferritin, how do I get the RBC and hemoglobin up to good levels?

Yes I’m taking Proferrin daily.

For a DSer, a ferritin of less than 100 means you need to watch it carefully. Do you have a graph of your iron panel since your surgery?

I was fine until I wasn’t at year 4.

I am taking 2 Proferrin per day and a beef liver supplement. (I struggle at times to swallow them.). If anyone has any ideas to get the decreases back up, let me know please.

Yes! Snap those Proferrin in half, or even smaller for better absorption. Also, Proferrin Forte is best.

From your graphs, its clear that you are heading downwards, even with Proferrin. You can double the Proferrin, but your best option is an iron infusion.

Start looking for a hematologist, or a referral if needed. It takes months to get in, and you might have to fight for it.

Then, going forward, Proferrin will keep you from tanking out so fast. At least, thats been my experience, at 10 plus years out.
