They canceled it 8/31/19. They were so kind to inform me via letter on 9/9/19! So my pain management and cardiologist drs didn't verify so I still saw them but cant get my oxycontin because its 1800! Well last Friday I got my first injectofer at cash price ad ive been informed 3300. So I paid the 800 for Cobra and its supposed to back date to September 1. My injectofer for today has been canceled. I made sure to call my hr and go the f*** off. Explaining im very sick thats why I have neen off since April. The fact they informed me 9 days after my coverage end was egregious and unacceptable. To which their response was you have 60 days. Then I explained that I am being monitored by several specialists and have at least 3 appointments a week so it is very important to not have any lapse in coverage. To which her response was cobra will bavk date. I got so irritated I just hung up on her. This was a time I was angry I dont have a home phone so I could have slammed it down in her ear!:ahhhhhhh::wall:

So everyone send good juju and pray and hope that i dont break my 4 week run of not having to be hospitalized before cobra at their snail pace processes me and reinstates my insurance!

If it’s like it was 20 years ago...you can actually “gamble” when it’s time for COBRA.

It does apply retroactively. And you have like 90 days to pay for it.

So people who change jobs and will have a SHORT period until they get new insurance can end up paying for it only if they had actual medical expenses during that period between jobs.

And, s8nce you aren’t working and don’t have insurance, maybe you can get cheap,
Obamacare or Medicaid.

But let me say this as gently as I can...
Get yourself a damned employment (and/or SS Disability) attorney!! NOW

DianaCox is probably up to her ass in alligators right now, but maybe she can point you in the right direction to find the attorney you need. (If it’s a SS atty, you do not pay up front.)

There’s so much at stake for you. Taxability of your retirement income is different if it’s a disability retirement. How much money you can rob from certain retirement accounts is improved if you are disabled. If you have any federal student loans you’re paying for, those can be forgiven if you are permanently unable to work. (And it’s not just what some “new law” is about and it’s not just for vets.). Even your status at work and your benefits might be improved with legal assistance.

PLEASE, get legal help asap!!!!!

What Spiky and Southern Lady said. (And the reason I still have my land line. Well., that and the fact that DH is even more of a Luddite than I am.)

Sue knows WAY more about this than I do. You need an attorney ASAP. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone in AZ.

(I’m currently in Durango CO with our RV club, while negotiating on the phone and by text with my moderately cognitively impaired father to set a date certain for his move to AZ, and to wrestle him away from the woman who doesn’t want him around anymore because his memory is bad - except that she’s now physically very impaired [partially blind, recent surgeries for fractured femur and leg vein occlusion] and he does all her shopping, cooking, helps her ambulate and bathe - and screams angrily at him when he forgets what she said a few minutes before.)

(I just made a very big hit with the other RVers by grilling fresh peaches with balsamic glaze and honey - if you have never tried it, DO! Vanilla ice cream on top too.)

Have fun.

I don’t think you really have a dad in this country. Your dad is the only resident of a small kingdom in the Himalayas and is there under the Witness Protection Program. These stories are to distract us.

(If you think of a good way for Charris to look for an atty, let her know.)

You might have reason to doubt his existence. He’s been “about to move in with us” for 5 years at least. The ladyfriend keeps him in a constant state of anxiety about when she will tell him to leave, especially when she gets angry at him over thing which are not under his control. We are convinced that his memory issues will improve somewhat once he is out from under the constant stress

Just to expand.. in the probate case the probate attorney that Hyatt pointed me to was what I'd characterize as a meticulous book-keeper... great if you needed a meticulous book-keeper. What I needed was an aggressive litigator. To his credit, the Hyatt-recommended probate attorney recognized this need pretty quickly and referred me to the proper litigator.

Only time in my life I've been before the court, save jury duty, ... not something I'd recommend if you can avoid it

Oh.. we won on two of the two contested claims.. but it was like pulling teeth, only the pain was prolonged over the years of the schedule of the court appeals process.. resolution in the courts takes time and money

Remember... don't let the B@$T@**$ wear you down

My only experince with what I (derisively) call HMO-Esqs was the dude who explained that it was INDEED medical malpractice, which left me w/lung damage and too sick to work for months...and was too bad I didn’t die because THAT would be a better case.
