Sorry for the abrupt beginning - you inadvertently triggered a response that was based on a history you don't know about - there are SO many ways that con-artists take advantage of the morbidly obese, and "medical tourism" companies are among the worst, times 10 when they are associated with certain Mexican surgery mills. Lopez is not a very well-known quantity, and you hit the trifecta when you didn't specify which surgery you got - so many people go to unvetted MX surgeons and come home with something other than what they were promised (no switch, a subpar sleeve, or a SADI instead of a DS). And sometimes, they end up coming back to the US with infections or horrible complications and lose their stomachs, their savings, their homes or even their lives, because of insurance problems with an uninsured procedure. And even worse are the Quislings of the bariatric world - someone who is a bariatric patient (or claims to be one) but really is just trying to find and curry the favor of uneducated, miserable, desperate fatties and who make money off of them by befriending and steering them to these butchers, and get a kickback from the surgeons.
So we tend to be a bit protective when someone shows up looking like one.
Alcohol abuse is quite common as a transfer addiction. I think DSers are less likely than other bariatric patients to be susceptible, because we are not all that deprived compared to them. But you WILL get buzzed - and drunk - faster, and possibly unpleasantly so - and you will also likely sober up more quickly. It changes your metabolism of alcohol, and that can be something to watch out for.
As for the apoplectic fit evidently pitched by your "defender," she is a long term vet with lots of information, but obviously also lots and lots of issues. There are at least several of us who have her blocked for that reason. When she does it on her own site, nobody can push back, because she kicks them off, but as you can see, she doesn't get away with that here. Review the last line of Spiky's post for a possible reason.
