Cheaper. Easier.

Results of a different trial were recently summarized on Medpage Today. Bottom line, the fecal transplant successfully altered the colonic microbiome of the obese patients (vs no change in the placebo group) but they didn't lose much, if any, weight. The trial was limited and had some flaws, but still...
Obesity is so complex and causes are many. The best approach, imho, will probably be some kind of combination approach that attacks many causes at once. Also, one of the theories as to why this trial wasn't more effective is that maybe it's necessary to alter the microbiome of the small intestine as well as the colon. Who knows!
I do think it's promising that there are more trials going on, and each will probably be a bit different and maybe gradually we will get more answers.
