After I had an embarrassing meltdown at the pharmacy today, I learned the following:
Medicare will front you some COVID-19 tests, free, BUT:
•maybe you have a Medicare PPO (like we do) or HMO (like my sister does);
•maybe your PPO or HMO covers every ASPECT of care, but not every dime (it doesn’t matter);
•maybe you were told that you would no longer need the your actual Medicare card, just the PPO/HMO card;
•maybe your pharmacy has a “Free COVID tests for Medicare Recipients” sign;
•MOVE QUICKLY and prepare to be irritated!
To get the free-to-Medicare-recipients-COVID-19 tests,
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ACTUAL MEDICARE CARD OR AT LEAST THE NUMBER FROM THAT CARD, not the number from your insurance card.
ALSO, this offer will expire SOMETIME in October. I just don’t know when. So act quickly!
