    How to respond: Ramadan

I was concerned about a. not being able to get enough protein in b. not getting enough hydration in c. feasting on carbs d. destroying your metabolism becasue of the long periods of fasting. Are you really saying this all isn't a problem? Because then I'm terribly miseducated :-)

    How to respond: Ramadan

So in my dutch FB group there are a quite a few Muslim ladies that are planning to observe the Ramadan that is starting soon. To be honest, I think that's a really bad idea but I don't seem to have the right arguments to convince them otherwise. How would you respond if somebody asks if they...

Less bariatric surgery being done in UK

It seems the DS is getting less and less popular in Europe. In the Netherlands we had two hospitals doing the DS (versus about 30 doing GBP and sleeve). One these two still does the DS but only very reluctantly and it looks like the other one has completely gone to doing the SADI.

I have a sleeve, now the DS

I had the DS without a resleeve. Contrary to Marquis Mark I found the surgery and recovery much easier than after the sleeve. Pretty much after a week I was back to soft foods en within two weeks back to normal foods. It will take some time to get to know your new intestines and become...

Anyone with experience to DS revision years after VSG weight regain

I am from the Netherlands and I'm guessing our insurance system is quite different from yours. Basically every insurance provider here covers the same procedures and treatments under the same rules and regulations in the basic health insurance policy. That is regulated by law. You are free to...

Anyone with experience to DS revision years after VSG weight regain

@Charris Starting weight sleeve : 338 pounds Lowest weight after sleeve : 211 pounds Starting weight DS : 260 pounds Current weight : 198 pounds Goal weight : 175 pounds. This would put my BMI below 30 which would - in theory - make me eligible for plastic surgery (belly tuck and breast...

Anyone with experience to DS revision years after VSG weight regain

Had my VSG in 2010 and experienced regain. Revised to DS in November 2014. Weight loss is slow but very steady. So far I've lost about 65 pounds in about a year's time and I am below my lowest weight after VSG. In fact, I think the last time I had this weight was when I was 16 years or so :-)

    Choosing Sleeve

To add my two cents: I had the VSG in 2010 and experienced regain after a couple of years. Wasn't able to loose any of the regained weight so decided to complete the DS. Granted, my starting BMI wasn't als high as yours but still quite high (starting BMI at time of sleeve was 56). According to...

Anyone have sleeve to DS revision with no resleeve???

I did. Just the DS part added November last year (sleeve in 2010). I feel I still have a fair amount of restriction although of course not as much as in the first year of being sleeved.

    Sleeve to DS....

For me the DS switch was much easier than the sleeve. I did have more pain from the gas the first 24 hours but other than that recovery was much easier and quicker.

Should I get the second step?

Hi Quillie! Are you from Belgium or from the Netherlands? My story sort of resembles yours. I had my VSG in 2010 (done by Dr. Himpens as well!). Lost 120 pounds and slowly regained about 50. Had the DS part added in november 2014 after going back and forth on that decision for more than a year...

1st post-op lab test, questions about ferritin

So I just picked up a copy of the first lab tests that were done after being switched last november. i would post them here but since they are in Dutch that probably wouldn't be very helpful. Overall all the results seem to be perfectly midrange with two exceptions. B12 is > 1100 but I read...

VSGers! What Vitamins Do You Take? :)

When I had my VSG I just took two multivitamins and extra B12. My bloodwork was always fine. To me Vitalady's list seems way overextensive. As I understood it, the only deficiency that can occur from the technical part of the operation is B12 but since your food intake will be quite limited the...

New here. VSG surgery scheduled for 12/16

I thought the pre-op diet was torture and I only had to do it for 6 days. Keep your eyes on the price, you'll get there!

    In Mexicali..surgery tomorrow.

Didn't you also have your sleeve tightened? I would imagine that makes a difference in recovery too. Hang in there, you will feel better tomorrow and even better the day after tomorrow.
