    More2Adore's Updates

Great progress! Thanks for the update! And I agree with JackieOnLine -- we love to hear about it! I love MFP -- but I also wish it were a little more flexible! It scolds me every time I log my food diary because I am coming in at between 700-900 calories a day (3.5 weeks post surgery ... but it...

Surgery Monday I am doing great

More2adore: Thank you for asking! I am still doing great. Surgery was 3 weeks ... almost 4 weeks now, and I am back to work and I have more energy than before the surgery. The incisions have mostly healed. I still feel a little tender inside sometimes (like when I got together with my sisters...

Surgery Monday I am doing great

Thanks everyone! I am home and a lot more comfortable! Had a pretty good night and slept in 3-4 hour chunks which was great! Now I am sipping, sipping, sipping -- and walking around! It's lovely fall weather here and the leaves outside are turning on my street.

Surgery Monday I am doing great

Hi! Just a quick update! Dr said my Monday surgery was without any problems. I was fine until Tues when i started having horrible pains - burning stabbing - near my drain line - but after evaluating the large quantity already drained they took out the line, and i am much better today and hope...

    Liquid Diet Rollercoaster

I love cooking! I am dreaming of all the things I can cook in just a few weeks! I am currently getting 100-110 g of protein a day. The diet is 3-4 protein shakes, plus clear liquids. I have mostly been drinking Costco shakes, but I have also been slowly trying some other brands, thanks to...

    Liquid Diet Rollercoaster

I am still going strong with the liquid diet! I am finding it's easier now, though still I have some times that I just want to eat! So when those times hit, I make lists of things I can eat sometime again! (Things like lemon sage chicken, and baked ham, and artichokes -- not donuts, bleh, I...

    Liquid Diet Rollercoaster

Thank you for the encouragement! The roller coaster continues -- but the further I get into this territory, the less I want to give up. I want the surgery to go as best as it can! And yes, broth is my new favorite! The rest of my family had gravy made of broth last night, and it didn't even...

    Liquid Diet Rollercoaster

Since I am scheduled for surgery on 10/20, and my surgeon asked for a liquid diet for 2 weeks, I have been on it now for 4 days. (hahaha i typed "4 weeks" first ... it sure feels like it!) On Monday and Tuesday, I was mad and sad. And tired. I got online on Monday night and read stories of lots...

Pay for the DS... Walk out with something else.

@Up2Me3 - A huge, huge THANK YOU to you for all of this information. I knew that Dr. Cottam was doing something that wasn't the traditional DS, and I was okay with how he explained it to me too. I asked for more details, first because of this board and all the great information here, then from...

    One Step Closer!

I just got confirmation that my surgery date is Monday October 20th. I will start a liquid diet on Monday October 6. I also called the insurance company and verified that the code submitted for the surgery is 43845, which I understand is the code for the duodenal switch. this is very...

    One Step Closer!

Thank you Diana! I will make sure I make it clear. Thank you again for having the threads on here already about this issue -- I definitely would not know to even ask the questions without this resource!!

    One Step Closer!

Thank you!! The surgeon is Dr. Daniel Cottam, in Salt Lake City. I've noticed a couple on this board that have mentioned him. He's not on some of the lists I've searched, but he was personally recommended by a NP that I saw earlier this year. She had him as a surgeon a few years ago and highly...
