    Just another Newbie ;)

Hubby, check! Last week of May through June 6. I'm really really really hoping to leave the 6th - the day before the primary! I don't wanna get caught up in riots by LAX!! ;) Oh, and even though it's a chain, I'm totally hitting Dead Lobster by our hotel in Arcadia/Pasadena!

That'd be awesome Scott! Let me know when you get your dates! As for lodging...this time around I'm staying in Pasadena at an Embassy suites....last time was at a Hampton Inn in Glendale...before that was an Extended Stay in Glendale for my own surgery. All were very comfortable and nice/clean...

He is worth the travel - in fact, I'm going down in a few weeks to care...

    Pannilectomy and Abdominoplasty

I can so sympathize! I'm ever so grateful to have my "baby" gone! I'd had it well over a year, watching it grow...Dr. K kept telling me to hold off until it bothered me so I could continue losing weight and get some skin removed at the same time. I'd gotten so accustomed to that lump that it's...

    Pannilectomy and Abdominoplasty

Sorry to hear that! :( I have Blue Cross of Idaho - and it sucks. I could have gotten the panniculectomy covered probably, but when the time was right to start getting the paperwork in, my hernia decided the time was NOW! So, I ended up self-pay for the abdominalplasty/panniculectomy portion. I...

    Pannilectomy and Abdominoplasty

As of today, I am 2 weeks post-op from hernia repair (size of a grapefruit) and abdominalplasty. My surgeon removed 8.5 lbs of tissue and so far, so good! I am very pleased with the results! I was expecting horrible pain, from all that I had read here and elsewhere, but it was actually very...

Help with some lab interpreting? Iron, Ferritin, Albumin

I'm fantastic! Thanks for asking. :) It's my busy season (antiques and estates) and since I'm 130 lbs lighter I have been going non-stop! I'll be back soon though, with my 6 month labs and brain in mass confusion!

Medical Bracelet and other emergancy stuff

I carry Dr. Keshishian's business card in my wallet and husband has one also. It has a diagram of the DS on it. (also found on dsfacts.com) I also thought about getting a medic alert bracelet when I was pre-op. I soon realized saying I had the duodenal switch was virtually useless. No one knows...

Meet Ghee: The Butter Chefs Love That's Also Good For You

Love that you posted this! And I have loved ghee since the day I was born...of course we know it as drawn butter...but it is wonderful on everything. :) Can't say as the thought of drinking a jigger of buttah every morning is something I would do tho!

    Friday Food Journal

I'm at 3 months out...and just tried popcorn for the first time a couple weeks ago. I wouldn't advise any sooner than that because of the husks and healing tummy. Just always remember that everyone is different in their tolerances...I know some people have posted that popcorn - even years out -...

Lol, I take my boring popcorn, fluff it with a little (or a lot) of buttah and sprinkle the Unjury cheese sauce mix on it. 21 grams of protein easy peasy! In the olden days (all of last year), I'd use the dry cheese sauce packets from Kraft macaroni boxes and chuck the pasta!

    surgery tomorrow

Congrats and welcome to the bench! Sounds like you're doing great, keep up on your meds and walking the anesthesia and gas out of your body and the pain will lessen. These first two weeks are the rough part, but it'll get better very soon! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
