    Question from my wife

Jim, I had the DS with a BMI of 30. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and knew there was no end in site. I have had no regrets at all and am at my goal weight after 9 months. My CC is 100cm and I have no issues with diarrhea etc. I also know I won't lose excessively because I have...

    Turned bright burning red!!

This happened to me and I freaked out too and took lots of Benadryl. It was a mixed B from vita lady. Weird that I had been taking it for months and then it just happened out of the blue. My guess is that there was more niacin than average in that one capsule. Not a lot of quality control with...

    PatchMD

My PTH was not good at 6m (went from 48 to 71) so i have increased my Ca++ from 500mg three times a day with food (Bariatric Advantage Chewables) to 1000mg four times a day with food. Now I do know that it is commonly said that the body can only absorb ~500mg Ca at a time, but it is not...

    PatchMD

i use the vitamin D patch and my level went from just above the ULN pre-op to 70s (very respectable) at my first set of 6m labs. It's only one data point but I was very pleased and am continuing to take just the patch for D for now. I will say that I am a light weight and transdermal absorption...

    Twofer?

Flagyl (metronidazole) has activity against almost all anaerobes and is therefore particularly well suited to targeting gut bugs. Cipro has v good gram negative activity which should get some of the gut flora but not as well as flagyl.

@Larra , what is your calcium routine? I think you like the bariatric chocolate pastille--wondering how many you take a day and if you do anything else with it (eg Mg).

    How are you eating

I eat Greek yogurt and always have dried edamame and almonds in my drawer at work. I eat fish but not meat so do veggie burgers, sashimi (sushi without the rice), butter pan fried fish. For breakfast I do protein shakes because I'm not a morning eater. Go to GNC and they have protein chips...

Serum Vitamin A vs Beta Carotene

My understanding of vitamin A is that the primary dietary source is beta carotene which is then converted to vitamin A. This process is highly regulated by the body making elevated vitamin A levels very uncommon unless someone is supplementing directly with vitamin A. Perhaps your doc is...
