    Do you exercise?

aw shucks thanks. You can also do it. It takes time and persistence. :) Keep on working at what you are doing. Your ability to tolerate higher rates will grow.

    Do you exercise?

That's not being nosy. Don't mind helping. I swim 5 to 6 days a week. It all depends on what meet is coming up, what I'm swimming in that meet, distances, etc. I will also do weights and different stretches, etc. that I really don't count. It is also not always the days you swim but what you...

Once and for all, let's clarify: calcium with/without food!?

Have you seen a nephrologist or any one else? Can they maybe shed light on this?

    We are now ABCD people?

I think what they are trying to do is separate out those who are overweight because they exercise, lift weights, and have muscle, from those who have excess fat.

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

It is amazing how the personal attacks come rather than more scientific discussion. I am ok as long as I agree with you. When I present evidence different, I'm now a troll. When I don't agree that DS is the best surgery (it is for some, not for all) or that some of the aspects apply to some, I'm...

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

Hmm. Take what you said to a doctor. Guarentee you they will see differently. What you indicate is DS is the best surgery. It is for some, others not so much. The fact is, pretty much everyone on this board is taking personal responsibility/has the will power to follow through with the...

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

If there is no thing as willpower, how do you explain me losing 35 pounds the year I had to go through diet/exercise before surgery? My sister who didn't have surgery but lost over 30 pounds thru diet and exercise? How any one with a bypass or sleeve loses weight after the first honey moon year...

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

I agree with you on the study. However, the number of people who seem to ask so many basic questions online indicate they were not well prepared by their surgeons/offices and/or the focus is on the $$$/surgery vs. making sure they can repeat back and know what they do. This is a smaller list...

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

If you look on the FB groups, most of them aren't. There are more people who state they gain weight rather than stay the same weight when they see the surgeons. I don't know but it appears typical from what the FB people are saying in that they have surgeons who will allow them to lose weight or...

ASMBS: Open Letter to Insurance Companies, Regarding Mandatory Pre-bariatric Surgery Diet Regimens

I had to wait a year. The thing is, that also helps that people actually start making some changes before, that they need to stay the course. Otherwise, we end up with a lot of people who don't make the changes required to really make it more successful. As DS'ers, do you really want people...

    Balloon Pill...

If all you have mild nausea or the like it is possible. Alli and a few other ones like it gave mild issues and there were people ready to do this. I think diarrhea was a big issue with one of them and there were still people that would. If someone was getting married, going to a reunion, it is...

    Good Cholesterol

Did you google him? He is a bariatric surgeon. Wrote Proteinaholic (sp). Vegetarian (AFAIK, not vegan). He does deal with those with bariatric surgery and there are many misconceptions and recommendations that aren't proven out by science. There is a huge bias against non meat eaters. He would...

    Good Cholesterol

How do vegetables cause that? Not all vegetables cause gas and that can be individual. Has Dr. Garth Davis advocated that?

    Good Cholesterol

Have you checked that out with Dr. Garth Davis? There are groups of vegans/vegetarians with bariatric surgery and seem to have no problem with veggies. How did you get spinach, eggs (for vegetarians), peas, etc. cause gas? Not all cause gas and it is possible to drink some proteins. Soy doesn't...

Has anyone taken a 24 hour urine calcium test?

iCalcium is the blood calcium not attached to proteins. Have you had Dexa scans to see if you are losing bone? My calcium level goes up with the Vitamin D, down with the Vitamin D. If all of that is normal you might be taking in more calcium than you need.

Has anyone taken a 24 hour urine calcium test?

Yes it tells me I question what the issue was of giving you a urine test. Did you get iCalcium done, what were your kidney values or have you had problems with the kidneys? If you have kidney problems it is possible you could have calcium issues.
