Magnesium Glycinate vs Magnesium Citrate

On a bad day 75-85, normally I'm over 90. It's not the fat, it's my iron meds that cause the problem, I've always had a problem with constipation and iron.:frown:
Iron and calcium constipate. Eating more fat helps defeat that. Start upping your fat 10 grams a week until you finally hit your sweet spot.

More than 100 grams a day makes me sick. I get cramps and hot flashes, just not worth it.
Then get as CLOSE to 100 as you can. At least the 90.

I know only a few people who can't eat enough fat, for similar reasons but no one has figured out why since we are DSers and lack of gallbladder really doesn't com into play since the the bile doesn't come in contact with the food til way down at the common channel, unlike normal people who have it in contact right at the top of the small intestines.

I'll work on that and I had my gallbladder removed almost 25 years ago... Odd.

Maybe if you SNEAK up on it??? Get it use to 98/99 and then try to sneak to 100? Then 101, etc?
You'd make my Nutritionist proud, that's how I got to where I am currently... Another problem is some days it's even more sensitive, anywhere near 90 and Ack attack!

Have you tried taking heme iron (e.g. Proferrin), which causes less GI issues, including constipation, and is more absorbable? It costs more but is worth it for those key benefits.

That's actually what I take and I take two at 4am with Vit C and nothing else for 1.45 hours. ;)

Try switching to Proferrin Forte. And BTW, Proferrins website states it can be taken WITH calcium, as heme iron does not compete with it. It does no good to take 2 at once. Space them far apart, and snap them in half for better absorption.

Be careful with advice on Dr K's group. Unless its in one of his podcasts, it cannot be trusted.

Also, I now suspect your issue is calcium related, not iron. If you want to test, remove one, then the other for a few days.

The fat problem may well be the FORM of fat. Exactly what foods with fat are you using?

I'l have to try separating them out. What about dairy? I read somewhere you can't take iron within an hour either way from dairy? I'm going to try moving them apart and see how it goes. As far as fat is concern I eat full fat cheese, whipping cream, avocados (if I can find some!), marbled meat such as a rib-eye, chicken thighs, sausage meat, eggs, nuts, avocado oil, olive oil, olives, and other natural fats. I've been pushing it lately to just at 100 grams a day, so far so good. ;)

Regular iron, yeah avoid dairy for awhile after taking the iron but heme iron (Proferrin) can be taken around ANY calcium, including dairy.

o_O I may have to list what I’m taking and see what can be paired with what...
I take 4 doses of mixed vitamins daily. Proferrin in 3 of them, with calcium, zinc, B12, copper, EVERYTHING. For over 9 years my labs have remained excellent. I do not worry about mixing dairy with anything.

Only time I separate anything is an antibiotic, rarely, if the label says to.

Life is too complicated for me to invent worries, is my motto.
