Sunday Weigh In (3/22/2020)

Not weighing in, but working from home has meant that I've been cooking three protein-heavy meals a day, and it's amazing how my sweet tooth (and junk food) tooth has gone. Icecream and biscuits untouched! Crisps still in their packets! And an espresso habit forming from my handheld travel espresso maker.

Good for you. Now that your sweet and junk food addiction is done, try to remain clean of them.

I've actually done pretty well, apart from when I was home in Australia and my mum kept buying me 'treats' in the form of liquorice bullets and Cherry Ripe bars. Especially in a lockdown, not having them in the house is the easiest!

Glad you dropped a bit.
I think most of us turn one of two ways during major stress, either eating everything in sight (and carbs aren’t called comfort foods for nothing) or not eating. Neither response is good but very short term is doable. The problem is this sure as hell isn't short term.
The last major stress I had was my mom was in the ICU on a ventilator and I didn't feel like eating but I was pregnant so I made sure I did anyways. I am usually disciplined about food but I have never been so afraid that everyone I love is going to die before. I am not sure how I am going to manage this long term.

Wait. You are in Seattle? My hematologist moved there! Prakash Varadarajan. See if you can find him. He is the one who infused me first, and he was great. Tell him I said "hi", and drop my name. He might give you a hard time, but be tough, remind him of your surgery, and that we dont hold iron. I will message you.
Is he practicing at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance? I go there for my breast health after I had a lumpectomy with one of their surgeons a number of years ago. I’ll have to reach out to him and get his advice (virtually). I’m flying back to LA in a few days, now that my COVID-19 test has come back negative, but most of my healthcare is done in Seattle. I try to come back every 6-8 weeks for appointments, et al.
