I broke down and got an Instant Pot. It is still sitting in the box. Is this going to be another useless appliance?
Does anyone have any favorite DS friendly Instant Pot recipes to share? I need some motivation to get it out of the box.

Mines not an Instant Pot brand, it’s a Fagor so slightly different different. Enough different that I can’t make yogurt using an IP recipe.

I use mine mostly as a crock pot and when I can get high enough butterfat heavy whipping cream, I make yogurt.

Do I regret getting it, no cause it takes up less space than most crock pots. I actually prefer my air fryer. Makes great fried chicken with far less mess than my cast iron skillet method. I also cook bacon in it.

I've used mine for rice and hard boiled eggs... Honestly it's worth it for the hard boiled eggs alone! They are super easy and perfect every-time!

There are tons of IP recipes on Pinterest. I've used mine for Koren style short ribs, beef stroganoff, rice, and something else that isn't coming to me right now.
On rice, the "recipe" in the booklet that came with the IP says 1 cup water with 1 cup rice, but for my unit that wasn't enough. I use 1 and 1/4 cup and it's perfect every time.
Do you like soup? There are lots of soup recipes out there, and you can adjust them to make them DS friendly.

Baby back ribs are great. Really fast and tender. Put some water, 1/2 cup or so and either some apple cider vinegar or apple juice in bottom of ip, a squirt if liquid smoke if you have it. Rub your rack with favorite rib rub, but first don’t forget pull off the tough membrane on the bone side. I like to put rub on and let set awhile or even overnight. I put a rack in the pot so ribs are t in the liquid. Just curl the rack around inside of pot. I usually do two and have heard three is possible. I set mine about 19 or 20 minutes, then do at least 10 minute natural release, or longer if you have time. Them I take them out and lay on a cookie sheet and brush with bbq sauce of your choice and put under broiler a few minutes until the sauce gets sticky. Dee-leee-shussss! I fixed them the other night and our 5 grandkids devoured them!

Good to know about the rice. I do not eat rice but I plan to use the IP to make the dogs' food faster!

How do you make yours Korean style short ribs?

Understand that this is how the IP makes rice but most long grained rice say to use 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. I had a stove top rice cooker (still have it but in storage cause it was my Mother’s and I wasn’t getting rid of it), that we always used a 2 water to 1 rice method.

For firmer rice, less water than the 2 cups, for softer, it’s 2 cups water. I prefer softer rice. My aunt told me one time she cooked hers that method in the oven, using to 2 cups water to 1 cup rice.

Sounds like you will need to experiment with the rice/water ratio. I use jasmine rice, and one cup water definitely wasn't enough, but for my IP, my rice and my taste, adding the extra quarter cup water makes it perfect.

Who do think the rice is for? The dogs! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I make dog food for all of my kids but my 14 years old gets extra stuff.

Awesome! What type of meat do you cook for the dogs? I have an elderly girl who cannot handle fat (pancreatitis) so I have to drain all fat. Right now thinking chicken breast/rice/veg is going to be the one pot IP meal. The rest of the meat will need to be cooked in batches and fat drained. Sigh.

two of my dogs had that and one had it chronically, it was terrible. I'm so glad you are able to cook for your dog! mine would have flareups with any change so I just kept her on prescription dog food but I always thought she would have been better off if I had changed to cooking for them earlier. :(

if I ever have a dog again (and I am so sad to say "if") I want to give them real food rather than buying dog "food".

I have a 14 year-old Chihuahua who is having a hard time keeping weight on so he gets beef (72/18 w/rice and veggies), the other dogs get chicken w/rice and veggies. I rotate for them turkey, lower fat meat (90/10) or bison if I find it on sale! They are so spoiled! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
